Where indoor hygiene is needed?

Indoor hygiene as a concept is no longer restricted only to health care and hospital related contexts. Proper hygiene is important regardless of whether one is e.g. at day-care center, school, workplace, or airport.

The special attention to indoor hygiene needs to be paid to indoor spaces with immunocompromised persons (hospitals and healthcare centers) and persons with developing immune system (day-care centers and schools).

Concentration of people can also mean a greater risk of exposure to pathogens and a higher likelihood that infectious diseases will spread. Schools, and universities are places where young people are daily gathered together. Other crowded public places like public transport and traffic hubs enable the spread of infectious diseases inside a country as well as from one country or continent to another. Mass-gatherings for sporting events, music festivals or religious undertones pose challenges to the most adept of public health practitioners in ensuring the health safety of the population.

In conclusion, many locations and activities benefit from controlling the spread of infectious diseases by enhanced indoor hygiene. The current COVID-19 pandemics has stressed the importance of indoor hygiene even at home to avoid transmission between family members.
